Supporting the Haydon Wick 2020 Christmas Parcel Scheme

Despite some unique challenges presented this year, Haydon Wick Parish Council will continue to deliver its successful Christmas Parcel Scheme and spread some festive cheer and goodwill to residents in need across the Parish.

Haydon Wick Parish Council will be distributing over 160 Christmas parcels full of Christmas goodies to its residents this week. Staff and Councillors have worked hard to overcome any logistical challenges and ensure their community project continues to help those that live alone, are aged over 70 and live within the Parish.

Chairman of the council, councillor Linda Brown told us:

“Despite this being a difficult year for many, we have been overwhelmed at the generosity and record levels of donations we have received towards this community project. As a Parish, we are very proud that for over 30 years we have continued to support our residents in this way”.

N&B Foods are delighted to have made a contribution to the effort to support the more vulnerable members of our local community this Christmas, and look forward to any further opportunities to do so in future.

We are delighted to be supporting local parish councillor Suresh Gattapur as he walks 26.1 miles around Swindon on 10 October 2020 to raise funds toward a new BMX track for Westlea, Swindon. After conducting extensive research, Suresh has identified the potential for a BMX track to become a driver for positive youth engagement in our local area. He says:

Bike parks are fun, challenging, and healthy places for young people to get their exercise in. As bike parks are built, and maintained, riders tend to frequent the parks more regularly. Compared to more traditional parks and playgrounds, bike parks offer incredible value vs. the budget spent on them. Well built facilities also have the potential to become tourist draws. Attracting events leads to benefits to the local economy with money being spent locally on amenities, food, repairs and new equipment. It’s one thing to build a bike park but a bike park helps build something larger for a community. It helps build healthy, happy, outdoor lifestyle choices.

We couldn’t agree more and are delighted to have made a contribution to the cause. We wish Suresh every success next Saturday, and will keep you posted on how he gets on.

We've been doing our bit to help some amazing local initiatives throughout the pandemic, and most recently, Swindon Advertiser have written an article oulining the important work of the Baba Balak Nath Group, of which Mr Babu Giga Chavda, our company founder, is an esteemed member.

The group has delivered over 5000 homemade meals to key workers and vulnerable people over the course of the pandemic, and Mr Babu had this to say:

"During this challenging time, Swindon has to come together and help each other. We are in the food business supplying local caterers so we are in a fortunate position where we can improve and felt we have to do so."
